Hey guys, I'm very excited to share this new character concept! this is the outcome of The Extra Mile live workshop I did with the awesome new cohort of students. I developed this idea from scratch during the live sessions... I started with a quick sketch in Krita, then ZBrush, Uvs, and Substance for textures and rendered in Blender Cycles. The idea was to cover a practical portion of each of the modules in The Extra Mile 2.0 course and I had a blast!

Project Details

Anyway, the name of the character 'Šaddu bēl ekalli' comes from Akkadian and it roughly translates 'The bull, custodian of the land". Everything was designed and sculpted from primitives in ZBrush except the 'shaft' or 'massive walking stick' which is a mashup of a few Megascans pieces.
For one of the final renders 'in the forest' I also used Adobe Firefly (AI) to produce a blurred background and some trees from Megascan to add more depth and vegetation. All textures were created with Substance 3D Painter and some custom materials from 3D Sampler... The render is from Blender Cycles (I covered a bunch of render engines in the TEM course but Blender was accessible to all in the workshop so I went for that).
