So I’m back from my holidays and since I finished my short film The Future Memories a couple of months ago I decided to upload a few things from the process.
After an interesting first stage of developing a concept I stated to work with the idea of leaving any linear narrative behind and to work on individual scenes that could be linked together but without following a specific sequence. Here is the storyboard I made with that idea of randomness in my mind; I then added some colour to get a rough mood board for the film.

I wanted to do a live action film so the initial concepts were different photographs manipulated to quickly get an idea of the shot. This kind of photo based concept helped me as reference for the lighting and as general guide as well.

There were major challenges for me such as compositing with green screen, integrating CG elements into the live action footage and making visual effects outside the safety of a computer software by creating models, set things on fire, melting stuffs and play with some simple chemical reactions.
Here are some screenshots of the process:

Here is a shot with the alien walking up the stairs:

These are some images from the room model. This is probably one of the things that I enjoyed the most from the whole production.

I also did this project because I wanted to do a lot of compositing so here are some gifts with the screenshot I took while I was compositing the shots.

Finally these are some images for the “marketing” area, like the Poster, DVD cover and DVD jacket cover.

I made this short film for my Master degree Thesis (Major Project) and it took me around 5 months from the beginning to the actual screening.
I used a Pentax K-x to shoot all the footage with different lenses and some macro filters.
It has duration of 11 minutes including the beginning titles and the credits.
